1. Peacemaker?
In his second term, Donald Trump is demanding what he promised: greater involvement from Europe. The tone is becoming harsher. Open conflict is brewing in the Oval Office with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy. Many are asking: Are the US still our allies? Caught between flattery and assertiveness, Europe, the EU, and NATO are searching for a new strategy for dealing with Mr. President, because Trump's stance is crucial. He portrays himself as a peacemaker, for example, in the Middle East. But the situation in Ukraine remains complicated. In November, Trump surprised the world with a "peace plan." Can he make peace? And what does "peace" even mean? How can Europe assert itself in this new world order?

2. Dealmaker?
Trump's economic nationalism is unsettling global trade. He exerts pressure, using tariffs to coerce old trading partners into new deals. His flip-flopping on tariff policy dominated European news coverage for weeks. The EU struggled to reach an agreement and ultimately accepted a controversial deal in Scotland. Did the Europeans get taken for a ride? Or was the deal the right step given a global situation in which the battle for raw materials and technologies is already being won elsewhere?

3. King?
Donald Trump is questioning Western values. Much of what was long considered consensus. America First – is his motto. But what kind of "America" does he mean? Trump's executive orders target migration, diversity, and climate protection. And his approach is finding imitators in Europe, where many also yearn for simple answers. Is an age of "strongmen" dawning? Will everything that contradicts Trump's own worldview become an enemy image? Whether with decrees or AI-generated posts: Trump and his MAGA movement are shifting the boundaries of what can be said and thought. Transatlantic relations have become complicated.
